An earlier report that Nemesis would be able to break into safe rooms in the upcoming
Resident Evil 3 remake has been debunked. The initial rumor stemmed from the latest issue of
Official Xbox Magazine, which was picked up by
IGN. The terrifying new wrinkle sent panic across the internet as these once traditional designated safe areas would no longer be secure.
As it turns out, there may have been some misunderstanding. According to
GameRadar, the location that the OXM preview was referring to wasn't necessarily a designated safe zone but instead just a place where you are able to access a game-saving typewriter. Confirmed by Capcom, there will certain areas where you are able to save your game in addition to designated safe areas that are impermeable to Nemesis and other outside threats. Apparently you'll be able to tell the difference between the two types by listening for the music.
So it sounds like you can take a deep breath and relax as there will still be safe rooms that offer a nice respite from the dangers of Raccoon City. Of course, that's not to say Nemesis still won't be lurking in unsuspected places.
Return to Raccoon City as Jill Valentine escapes an unstoppable pursuer in this re-imagining of the survival horror classic.
The
Resident Evil 3 remake will release on April 3 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. A
demo will be available before its launch, but Capcom has not yet announced details.
