Marvel's Spider-Man was released on the 7th of September after what seemed to be an eternity, and fans of the web-headed superhero could finally experience one of the best video games in the superhero genre.
Developer Insomniac Games managed to squeeze in a myriad of references to previous games based on Marvel's iconic superhero, as well as some very nice references to the Spider-Man movies that have released over the years. Not only did Insomniac Games add a bunch of references, since they also included a very generous bunch of suits for Spider-Man to wear; in what has become some sort of a tradition for Spider-Man games in general.
One thing that fans soon realised, however, was that
Marvel's Spider-Man featured a bunch of suits from the comics and the latest movies from Marvel Studios that the superhero has appeared in, but there was no sign of the classic Spider-Man suit from the critically acclaimed Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi.
The lack of the "Raimi Suit" in
Marvel's Spider-Man made a bunch of fans go on a begging spree; asking Insomniac Games to add the suit to the game pretty much every time the developer revealed new DLC. Today, Insomniac Games finally revealed that the "Raimi Suit"(now officially called Webbed Suit) was becoming available for free.
As it turns out, however, Insomniac Games adding the Webbed Suit had little to nothing to do with fans constantly asking for them to add the suit to
Marvel's Spider-Man; as James Stevenson, Community Director at Insomniac Games, replies to a Tweet by Greg Miller clarifying that the suit had actually been in the works for months—even before the base game released—but they couldn't reveal it just yet since the developer wanted to release this specifically for the Holidays.
It really is an interesting turn of events, and it is kind of sad that fans were that vocal about the Raimi Suit not being in
Marvel's Spider-Man, when Insomniac Games had it planned all along; they were just waiting for the perfect time to release it.
