While Insomniac Games' most recent, acclaimed title Marvel's Spider-Man truly deserves all of the praise it has received, if there's perhaps one element in which they dropped the ball, it's arguably the selection of alternate suits that the player can choose to sport.
There's a couple notable suits which didn't make an appearance, such as the fan-favourite Superior suit or the one which features in the Sam Raimi-directed movies, but the missing suit which has generated the most buzz is of course the iconic black-symbiote-suit - or, as it may be otherwise known: The Venom suit.
Kinda Funny Games recently sat down with Spider-Man's creative director Bryan Intihar and brought up this very topic - and while the lack of a suit may have left you dismayed, Intihar's response is bound to make up for it. "I think something like that suit (symbiote suit) deserves its day in the spotlight. I think just making it an unlockable suit wouldn't be doing it justice. It's one of the best stories for Spider-Man. I think it's a complex story. And I think it's a story that needs to be told, and it needs to be told the way Insomniac would tell it."
So the fan-favourite suit didn't make an appearance in the game because it flat-out deserves more focus than simply being an optional, unlockable outfit. Fans of the comic, Venom in-particular, will no doubt be even more excited for a sequel on account of this statement - as it essentially confirms the huking goo-monster's involvement.
What do you think of Intihar's comments? Would you have liked for the symbiote suit to have featured in Marvel's Spider-Man, or are you willing to wait for the sequel? You can see the conversation for yourself, at 36:39, in the video below:
