Earlier today Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics announced that Spider-Man will be a playable character in the highly anticipated MARVEL's Avengers, and that the wall-crawling superhero would release as a post-launch character as a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Just last week, the developers revealed Hawkeye to be the first post-launch character to join the roster of playable characters in MARVEL's Avengers, which was a great news for fans of the character and the Earth's Mightiest heroes, as many considered that he should've been revealed when the first official trailer was released.

So far, all of the heroes that will be showing up in MARVEL's Avengers are very unique takes on the Avengers — which have been inspired by their many iterations on various media such as the countless different stories told in comicbooks, and the most recent version seen in the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since Spider-Man has been revealed to be a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive, many have been wondering whether the beloved web-head could end up being the version seen in the critically MARVEL's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games, but this will actually not be the case.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have revealed that the Spider-Man that will be part of the Avengers team is their "own Crystal Dynamics take on Spider-Man," who will be teaming up with the likes of Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, and the rest of the Avengers.

The developers have yet to give us our first look at Spider-Man in MARVEL's Avengers, but chances are that in order to make him different from the one seen in MARVEL's Spider-Man, they will be redesigning his outfit entirely; exclusive or not, the Inosmniac Games suit may not even be featured at all.

One way the developers at Crystal Dynamics have to make their Spider-Man different from the one Insomniac Games created would be to borrow from the Ultimate Spider-Man comicbook series by Brian Michael Bendis and the MCU version played by Tom Holland, and simply make him a younger hero. Whatever the case, this is definitely some exciting news for both Spider-Man and PlayStation fans.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

MARVEL's Avengers will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on Friday the 4th of September; PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X release date to be determined.
