Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, the updated version of Insomniac's open-world superhero blockbuster, is apparently now available as a standalone purchase for PlayStation 5. Previously, the game was only available as part of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, a bundle that includes the Miles Morales expansion along with the original game, enhanced for PS5.
According to Twisted Voxel, Spider-Man Remastered is available as a standalone purchase for $39.99, which is kind of expensive considering the Ultimate Edition costs $69.99 (and includes Miles Morales, which retails for $49.99 on its own). Basically, you'd be paying $20 more if you were to purchase Spider-Man Remastered standalone than if you were to just buy it as part of the bundle.
But, there are also some weird details surrounding its listing. As Twisted Voxel notes, there's apparently no way to buy it if you own the original game along with the season pass. If you own both, players are seemingly redirected to their library where they can download the original PS4 game -- not the remaster.
It's unclear if this listing was made in error or perhaps ahead of some formal roll out by Sony. One would think that releasing this as a standalone option would warrant an announcement from Insomniac or Sony. Either it was made available in error or premature of an official announcement.
Either way, it's exciting if you haven't already played Marvel's Spider-Man. The remastered version has updated visuals that run in dynamic 4K/HDR, faster load times, and haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that make use of the DualSense controller's features.
