Sony and Insomniac recently confirmed that Spider-Man 2 will swing into stores this Fall. Now, we wait for a trailer and gameplay reveal for a sequel it's fair to say is among the most highly anticipated video games of all time.
We've seen a brief teaser confirming plans for Venom to appear (which was first teased in Spider-Man's post-credits scene), but viral marketing now appears to have begun in Australia. As you can see in the Tweet below, a brief live-action commercial shows a reporter talking about some criminals who have been webbed up by New York City's two wall-crawling protectors.
With that, Peter Parker and Miles Morales are seen swinging away from the scene of the crime before Sony touts the fact PlayStation 5 consoles are now in stock.
Some of you may be quick to point out that the TV spot promises a "Spring 2023" launch for Spider-Man 2. However, as this is an Australian promo, it's important to note that "Spring 2023" is the equivalent of "Fall 2023" in North America and Europe.
We recently spoke to Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal about the game and he shared a big update on how work is progressing and briefly teased what fans can expect.
"I’ve still got a little bit to do. It’s a massive game so I’m still doing a little bit of work," Lowenthal confirmed. "I know they’re confident about their release date and Insomniac has always been good about that. Obviously, I can’t really talk about the game much, but I will tell you that it’s astonishing."
The Super Bowl is fast approaching, so if we're lucky, a new look at the game will be with us within a matter of weeks.
