Last month, Insomniac Games and PlayStation confirmed that Spider-Man 2 will arrive in stores on October 20.
The developers vowed not to announce a release date until they could be confident in meeting it so the news is a good sign work is progressing well. As for when we'll next see a trailer or gameplay footage from the sequel, something dropping during this month's San Diego Comic-Con seems likely.
In the meantime, Collider has shared a new Mondo poster for the game by artist Tomer Hanuka.
On that, we see Peter Parker and Miles Morales battling Venom, and it's clear this hulking version of the fan-favourite villain will push the two Spider-Men to their limits. Based on what's playing out here, not even Spidey's extra arms and Miles' Venom Blasts appear to be enough to slow the baddie down.
There's been a great deal of speculation about who is wearing the Venom costume since we first learned it won't be Eddie Brock, though we're not entirely sure why that is.
Remember, in Spider-Man's post-credits scene, we saw Harry Osborn surrounded by the symbiote in some sort of stasis tank, so common sense says he becomes Venom (unless Norman ends up being bonded with the suit in place of his son).
While we still don't have a synopsis for the game, a post on the PlayStation Blog notes that, "players will get to experience Marvel’s New York as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales...the main storyline of the game will have you take control of both Spider-Men at different points of the campaign."
"In the open world, you will be able to switch nearly instantly between them as you explore Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Both Spider-Men have stories and missions in the world exclusive to each of them."
