The new story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws debuted today with Ubisoft confirming a release date and opening up pre-orders for the highly anticipated action RPG.

Before we get into the trailer, we can now confirm that Star Wars Outlaws will be released on August 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

There are three editions of the game available:

  • Standard Edition ($69.99)
    • Base game
    • Kessel Runner Bonus Pack
  • Gold Edition ($109.99)
    • Base Game
    • Kssel Runner Bonus Pack
    • 3 Days Early Access
    • Season Pass
  • Ultimate Edition ($129.99)
    • Everything in the Gold Edition
    • Rogue Infiltrator Bundle
    • Sabacc Shark Bundle
    • Digital Art Book

The Kessel Runner Bonus Pack provides a cosmetic pack for your speeder and another cosmetic pack for the Trailblazer spaceship.

As for the Season Pass, Ubisoft confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will have two DLCs released after the game's launch. These will offer new stories, quests, and areas to discover. It also includes the "Jabba's Gambit" exclusive mission at launch, and the "Kessel Runner Character Pack" which features additional cosmetics for Kay and Nix.

Now as for the story, the trailer reiterates much of what we already know. Star Wars Outlaws is set between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. With the Empire in control of the galaxy and distracted by the rebellion, it's a golden age for the criminal underworld.

Players take on the role of Kay Vess, a clever scoundrel in the galactic underworld who has made quite a name for herself among the Pykes, Crimson Dawn and Hutts -- all of whom were confirmed in the trailer today and will likely be among the factions you'll interact with in the game.

There's also Zerek Besh, a new, rich, and lethal faction led by a boss named Sliro. At some point, Kay Vess crossed him and now he wants her gone. So the rival factions are offering her a chance to buy her freedom by completing a high-risk, high-reward mission to rob him of his fortune.

It sets the stage for what will surely be an action-packed adventure through the galaxy. As an open-world RPG, players will explore the galaxy, both new and familiar worlds, as search for the right crew and the right ship to help pull off the most dangerous heist ever seen.

As the trailer alludes though, there's something more deep with Kay Vess's past. "She's more connected than you let on, Sliro," a bounty hunter tells Sliro. "Vess is mixed up in something bigger."

What could it be? We'll have to wait until August 30th to find out when Star Wars Outlaws launches!
