It looks like the acclaimed creators of
The Darkness, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons from Starbreeze Studio will have to face yet another major problem, as the long-delayed console version of
OVERKILL's The Walking Dead has been postponed.
"
Starbreeze has decided to postpone the release date from its original February 2019 date, further information regarding the future release will be announced at a later date," the company explained in that short press release. The fact that the game has been pushed back is definitely good news, as Overkill can now focus on polishing the port and avoid next month's bloodbath of new releases.
The end of 2018 was especially harsh for the company, as Starbreeze had to deal with the Swedish Economic Crime Authority and their raid on the dev's offices, terrible launch sales numbers of
The Walking Dead, and CEO Bo Andersson Klint's resignation. Considering that Starbreeze has had a truly miserable time, players should expect some announcements regarding
Payday 3 in the near future.
In
Overkill’s The Walking Dead, players have a chance to witness the fall of humanity from the perspective of Aidan, Maya, Grant and Heather, four ordinary people brought together by necessity and the willingness to do whatever it takes to see another day in a zombified world. Upon is release,
TWD's PC port received mixed reviews, currently sitting at a rather mediocre 52% score on Metacritic.
OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead is a four player co-op action FPS, where you and your friends fight the dead as well as the living. Set in The Walking Dead Universe, you and your group tries to survive in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. Each character has their own Special Abilities, Skill Trees, Squad Roles, Play Styles and Story Arcs, but teamwork is paramount. The action is close-up and intense: take out enemies carefully with silent melee attack or go in guns blazing with your choice of each class firearms. You need to be able to improvise as nothing is certain and a horde of walkers is always right around the corner.
Overkill's The Walking Dead is available for PC NOW, as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have been pushed back indefinitely.
