Publisher 505 Games has announced on Twitter that
Overkill's The Walking Dead is still coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox one as planned, denying previous rumors that Starbreeze had canceled the zombie shooter. While we know that the console versions of
OTWD will be released, it's unclear why Sony has started e-mailing all players who pre-ordered the game on PS4 and begun issuing refunds.
"
Starbreeze has decided to postpone the release date from its original February 2019 date, further information regarding the future release will be announced at a later date," the company explained in a short press release almost exactly a month ago. We still don't know when to expect
Overkill's The Walking Dead's console launch, but 505 Games will "
share further news as soon as possible."
The fact that
OTWD's long-delayed PS4 and XO versions haven't been canned is definitely good news also for those who purchased the game on PC, suggesting that Starbreeze won't stop supporting the zombie title anytime soon. According to the Swedish company, at least nine DLC episodes (bringing fresh content) will be arriving to
Overkill’s The Walking Dead from November 2018 – June 2019.
OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead is a four player co-op action FPS, where you and your friends fight the dead as well as the living. Set in The Walking Dead Universe, you and your group tries to survive in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. Each character has their own Special Abilities, Skill Trees, Squad Roles, Play Styles and Story Arcs, but teamwork is paramount. The action is close-up and intense: take out enemies carefully with silent melee attack or go in guns blazing with your choice of each class firearms. You need to be able to improvise as nothing is certain and a horde of walkers is always right around the corner.
Overkill's The Walking Dead is available for PC NOW; the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have been pushed back indefinitely.
