It seems that 2K Games is gearing up for a big reveal, as a new post on the official Twitter account for the critically acclaimed Mafia series seems has recently been posted; giving fans some hope that a new game may currently be in thre works, and may soon be announced.
The tweet itself doesn't really give anything away, as it only reads the word "Family". What's interesting about this, however, is that this new tweet breaks a 2-year hiatus, since the previous post was actually shared in August of 2018.
Mafia III is the latest entry in the series to be released, and 2K Games launched the game all the way back in October of 2016, so fans are right to believe that the recently shared Twitter post could mean big news for the critically acclaimed Mafia series.
Things have gotten a little bit more interesting, since today Mafia's official Twitter account has shared yet another mysterious post; this time simply reading "Power" — which doesn't really tell us much, but could also mean that said announcement could be made rather sooner than later.
In September of last year it was rumoured that a remastered or re-releases of Mafia and Mafia II could've been in the works, as trademarks for those two games were filed by Take-Two — although this has yet to be confirmed by the developers.
According the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea, as first spotted by Gematsu, Mafia II: Definitive Edition and was rated for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it was later revealed that the aforementioned title, as well as Mafia III: Definitive Edition had both been rated by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee.
Whether 2K Games will be revealing Mafia II: Definitive Edition, Mafia III: Definitive Edition, or the long-awaited Mafia IV remains to be seen. Regardless, this is still exciting news for fans of the series; 2K Games has definitely got a card or two up their sleeves. We'll have to patiently wait for that impending announcement; whatever it may be.
