MARVEL'S AVENGERS Operation: Kate Bishop – Taking AIM Now Available For Free

Operation: Kate Bishop - Taking Aim introduces the first new playable Super Hero in Marvel's Avengers. Kate Bishop arrives with her own story, the first of a two-part story arc involving the Hawkeyes.

Marvel's Avengers latest DLC, Operation: Kate Bishop - Taking Aim, has gone live. The completely free content drop features the first new playable Super Hero, Kate Bishop (voiced by Ashley Burch), who comes with her own story along with a new villain.

Leading up to the arrival of Kate Bishop, players were able to take on Tachyon missions via the War Table. The story of Taking Aim is an intriguing one as Kate Bishop works to unravel a mystery that could be linked to the disappearances of Nick Fury and her mentor Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye.

In Taking AIM, Kate Bishop, master archer and skilled gymnast, resurfaces after her investigation of Nick Fury’s disappearance following A-Day leads to her mentor Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) going missing as well. As she unravels the mystery behind the sudden appearance of the time-warping Tachyon Rifts, she uncovers a twisted new plan from AIM, which pushes her to work with the Avengers once again.

Taking Aim is playable solo or with up to three additional players. It's set shortly after the conclusion of Marvel's Avengers Reassemble campaign and is the first half of the two Hawkeyes' Story Arc. The series will conclude in early 2021 when Clint Barton arrives. Players will encounter a new type of powerful enemy, the Super-Adaptoid, which mimics the skins and weaponry of the Avengers' own attacks.

This is still just the beginning of Crystal Dynamics' long road map of post-launch content they have planned for Marvel's Avengers. We already know Black Panther will be arriving at some point and Spider-Man is scheduled to swing into the PlayStation version of the game in 2021. Previous leaks suggest War Machine, Mar-Vell, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Vision, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, and She-Hulk are among the lengthy list of future playable characters. If that's the case, then Marvel's Avengers could be supported for years to come.

Of course, a big factor in all of this is whether or not the game can prove financially successful. As of last month, Marvel's Avengers had failed to recoup its development costs and still had not made any profit. Hopefully, the continued addition of new characters will attract more players.

Marvel’s Avengers is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. It's playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility.
