During the
Apex Legends segment of EA Play, Respawn Entertainment revealed a ton of information about coming updates to the battle-royale game including its details about its forthcoming second season, a new Legend character, and weapon.
To start off; Season 2 of
Apex Legends is called
"Battle Charge," and will begin on July 2nd (via
Dexerto).
This upcoming second season of the game will introduce a new weapon to
Apex Legends, one that featured in the game's predecessor:
Titanfall 2. The L-Star weapon is a light machine gun and is capable of breaking down doors. This new gun will be quite overpowered (in the words of Respawn themselves), so it will only be available through care package drops.
As well as this weapon, it was revealed that Season 2 will include a new ranked mode. This multiplayer mode will feature skill-based matchmaking and ranked tiers. It's said that the battle-pass for Season 2 will feature a lot more content than that of the first season - including more skins and materials.
Lastly, Wattson will be the newest legend added to
Apex Legends. This character should be played defensively and has the ability to place up to twelve electrical fences on the map to block enemies (teammates will be able to pass through these fences without coming to harm).
On the lore side of things, Wattson and her father have quite the history with the arena. You can find out more about Wattson's history by checking out the animated short which was shown off during EA Play. You can also see below the full Apex Legends presentation and the trailer for Season 2.
