With matches that support up to 150 players, Call of Duty: Warzone already outscales many of its competitors — most of which support 60-100 players per game. If you enjoy the chaos that these large-scale matches provide, get ready for even more of it. Infinity Ward has confirmed that it is already working on 200-player matches.

"We brought a number of twists to battle royale,” Infinity Ward co-studio head Patrick Kelly told USA Today. “I do think the world you play in is going to be undeniably unique. For one thing, we are initially going to roll out with 150 players, when you are typically seeing 60 to 100."

"Actually, I can tell you we are already playing with 200 players. We are going to release that a little later," he teased.

Call of Duty: Warzone launched earlier this week as a free-to-play standalone multiplayer experience. While the core mechanics are similar to other battle royale games, Warzone does introduce a few wrinkles, including the 1v1 Gulag to respawn back into the match. Infinity Ward is working on other features and twists that could help set the game apart from the competition. One thing Infinity Ward is working on is possibly expanding the amount of players in a squad.

“I can tell you we have four- and five-player squads we are already playing with. But we want to launch with something we know works really well and we have tested to the nines and then play around with these different team sizes,” Kelly revealed. Warzone currently supports solo, duo, and three-player squads.

Call of Duty: Warzone launched earlier this week as a free-to-play, standalone multiplayer experience. It's available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC and has already seen its player count jump to six million.
