Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is not the only new title set in the fantastic world of
The Witcher as CD Projekt Red just launched another game featuring Geralt of Rivia and his friends (and many foes),
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. The title is currently available on PC (via GOG.com) and the studio is working hard on a console version of the card game that is scheduled to release December 4th.
Nintendo Switch owners won't be able to check out
Gwent anytime soon, as CDP Red hasn't revealed a Switch version of the game that's also heading to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One yet. If you're a fan of the
Magic: The Gathering or
Hearthstone series,
Gwent seems like a reasonable alternative, as it's not only getting raving reviews, but will feature cross-platform play between the PC and console versions.
Unfortunately, platform play between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions is not supported, but don't forget that Sony recently allowed
Fortnite players to finally play together, so it's still a possibility. To celebrate the successful launch, CD Projekt Red released a special cinematic trailer that focuses on the epic side of
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game and you can check it out own below:
Gwent is a card game of choices and consequences, where skill, not luck, is your greatest weapon. Pick a faction, build an army, and wage war against other players across multiple game modes. With hundreds of cards to collect — charismatic heroes, mighty spells and special abilities — new strategies are always a thought away.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is available on PC via GOG NOW, with a console release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 set for December 4th.
