The release of Marvel's Avengers is now half a year away. The action-adventure game will allow players to control the various iconic superheroes that make up the titular team — from Iron Man to Black Widow. As well, other heroes and content will be added after launch to keep the playerbase invested.

What we can ascertain about the game's story thus far is that it's about Kamala Khan putting the band back together, the band being the Avengers, after a devastating event seemingly caused the death of Captain America and the team to seperate.

The head of Crystal Dynamics recently revealed an interesting tidbit to do with the story during an interview with IGN Italy. Scot Amos stated that, rather than having a definitive one, Marvel's Avengers will feature multiple alternate endings.

"Yes, there will be, although I can't reveal much about it," Amos told the site. "History will have fixed points - initial and intermediate - but otherwise....there will be alternative endings, yes. And in any case, the credits will not be the end: the contents we will publish in the months following the launch will continue to expand the experience."

Exactly how the developer will go about achieving this is unclear — especially as the story will be continued with free post-launch content and the like. More details on the disparate endings will likely be revealed as the game's launch approaches — so be sure to stay tuned.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's Avengers will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC on the May 15th, 2020.
