Last week, Enad Global 7 announced the cancellation of a Marvel-themed massively multiplayer online game that was in development at Daybreak Games. The game was originally revealed back in 2021, but we never actually got to see anything from it — until now.

Designer Ramiro Galan, a principal designer at Pixelkings who specializes in AAA games, took to social media to share a gallery of styles and screens "for a cancelled Marvel MMO title." Over on his Artstation portfolio, Galan explained: "Emphasis was on rich and vibrant colors with stylistic tones that pay homage to Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse."

The images, which you can view through his link below, are mostly of the character creation menus. It seems that players would be able to choose between four factions — the X-Men, Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. or Fantastic Four -- and customize their character's appearance. They would also be able to pick their type of super power, with one of the examples being Electricity. There also appears to be a Dark Theme and Light Theme to choose from, presumably allowing you to choose whether you'd want to be a super hero or villain.

Based on these images, it's clear Daybreak was going for a cartoony look and field and it seems like the design really nailed it. It's unfortunate the MMO won't see the light of day, but perhaps we'll get to see more concept art and perhaps even early gameplay footage if it makes its way online.

The untitled Marvel MMO was in development at Dimensional Ink Games, a division of Daybreak Game Company, and led by Jack Emmert, the lead of DC Universe Online who also helmed City of Heroes. EG7 had planned to invest $50 million over three years into the Marvel project, but that investment will now be diversified across multiple, smaller projects at the company.
