To kick off their BlizzCon 2019 presentation,
Blizzard Entertainment announced Diablo IV — with a hellish cinematic and gameplay trailer which you can check out below. The sequel will feature the same genre defining AARG gameplay that players know and love whilst also introducing new features and challenges.
A release wasn't announced but we do know what platforms Diablo IV is in development for — those being the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. They platforms that the game will be available for suggests that it will release at some point next year as the next generation of consoles are set to debut in Holiday 2020.
Blizzard recently confirmed that
Diablo IV will require a constant internet connection to play. This means that you won't be able to play the game offline at all. This decision is necessary to certain games but it's certainly not one that players tend to be fond of. Suffice it to say, players haven't taken kindly to the announcement but, regardless, it's likely set in stone.
"We are not going to support an offline mode," lead designer Angela Del Priore stated (via
Gamespot) before reassuring fans that solo play will be available.
"But as I said before, nothing in Diablo 4 is going to require partying up. You can play solo and dungeons are private. Campaign quest areas will [also] remain private."
