Digimon Survive, a survival game with strategy and role-playing elements, was announced in July of 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, and it was expected to release at some point in 2019. The announcement trailer barely featured any gameplay, but it was enough to get fans of the series excited.

In May of 2019, Bandai Namco shared a pretty lengthy behind the scenes video that revealed a bunch of details about the upcoming title, and showed off a tonne of gameplay. This is when players begin to suspect the game was no longer releasing in 2019, as the video ended and no information about the its launch was shared at all.

In April of this year, a report claimed that Digimon Survive had been indefinitely delayed. This information actually came from Famitsu Magazine, although Bandai Namco was quick to confirm that the game hadn't been delayed, and that it was all a misunderstanding; they didn't, however, reveal when the game would officially become available.

After months of uncertainty, Bandai Namco Producer Kazumasa Habu has confirmed what many feans had been fearing for a while: Digimon Survive is no longer releasing this year, as it has been pushed back to an undetermined date in Spring of 2021.

Bandai Namco's official statement reads as follows:

"The Digimon Survive team would like to extend our thanks to fans from around the world for their support during development, especially in these difficult times. We had originally planned to launch Digimon Survive in 2020, but current world events have shifted our development timing and we have made the difficult decision to push Digimon Survive‘s launch to 2021.

We thank you all for your continued patience as we work to create a fun and engaging tactical RPG game along with a memorable story for Digimon fans! We will share some exciting updates for Digimon Survive in spring 2021, so please stay tuned for more information."

Digimon Survive sees a brand-new group of teenagers, led by Takuma Momozuka, get lost on a school camping trip, finding them transported to a strange new world of monsters and danger. As they fight their way back home through an animated world of difficult decisions and deadly battles, players’ choices throughout the game will impact the evolution of their monster allies, and the final ending. Battles in the game are fought in 2D, in a more classic SRPG style.

Digimon Survive is expected to release for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC in 2021.
