The latest entry in Team Ninja and Tecmo Koei’s flagship fighting game series,
Dead or Alive is coming next year almost 7 years after
Dead or Alive 5 (not including the
Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball spin-offs).
Dead or Alive 6’s debut trailer revealed six returning playable characters: Ryu Hayabusa (the main protagonist in the
Ninja Gaiden franchise), Kasumi, Hayate, Helena, Jann Lee and Zack.
In an interview with Famistu this week, the series producer Yohei Shimbori spoke about some of the upcoming changes to the game, particularly in terms of how he wishes the game to be viewed by audiences as "cool," as his team's main goal is to shift the series from being "sexy" to "badass" as the female heroes will be more grounded and it's time to say bye to Clothing Destruction in its past form.
The IGN crew debuted 13 minutes of gameplay from the recently announced
Dead or Alive 6 during its E3 2018 live stream today. Regarding a potential Switch version,
Dead or Alive 6 director Yohei Shimbori said that there are currently no plans unless they are able to overcome the technical hurdles it would take to bring the fighting game out on the platform. Check it out down below:
Dead or Alive 6 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam in the first quarter of 2019.
