Elden Ring was one of 2022's best titles, winning multiple Game of the Year awards and selling over 17 million copies. As we approach the one-year anniversary of the game's release, many are hoping to continue their adventure through the Lands Between with new DLC.
So far, neither developer FromSoftware nor publisher Bandai Namco have announced plans for new single-player content for Elden Ring; however, an update to the game's SteamDB page has sparked speculation that an announcement could be imminent. First spotted by u/ashen on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, there have been updates to four packages linked to Elden Ring's Steam Store page. These packages contain information that's displayed on the game's Steam page such as images, prices and simple text.
As the user notes, these packages were only updated twice before -- once during the game's initial release and again ahead of the release of the game's Colosseum update in December of last year.
Now it's worth noting that the SteamDB update is not a direct confirmation that Elden Ring DLC will be announced soon, but given the game's commercial success, it's hard not to imagine FromSoftware isn't planning for it. Whether or not it will be revealed during the game's anniversary event planned for later this month is the big question right now.
Bandai Namco's Nordic account recently announced plans for a celebration in Stockholm on February 25th. The event will be livestreamed on Twitch for those who want to tune in. The event will feature giveaways, contests, exclusive prizes, quizzes, and more. There was no mention of any announcements, however.
It's clear by now that the Elden Ring community wants more single-player content to dive into, and the game was far too successful for Namco to not appease them. The question now is how much longer we'll have to wait. Will new DLC be announced during this event later this month?
Released in February of last year, Elden Ring is an action-adventure RPG directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. The world-building was provided by fantasy writer George R.R. Martin, and the story focuses on a player-created character's journey to repair the titular Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.
Like other games from FromSoftware, Elden Ring is known for its high level of difficulty. What sets it apart from previous titles from the developer is its scope and size. Elden Ring features a massive open-world in which you are free to explore as you see fit.
