Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, recently took to social media to deny multiple rumours surrounding the game series as well as NetherRealm Studios as a whole.
Back in 2008, Midway Games released Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe - which was a crossover between the two beloved franchises and featured a multitude of fan-favourite characters from each. Interestingly, the crossover-game is still canon with in the Mortal Kombat universe.
With NetherRealm releasing Injustice 2 (a similar fighting game based solely around DC Comics characters) last year, and competitors like Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite (a crossover event between Marvel Comics and Japanese game studio Capcom) releasing crossover titles; many fans believed that NetherRealm might be cooking up a sequel to the popular MKvsDC game.
Unfortunately, that isn't the case - as Boon bluntly explained in his tweet below:
On top of refuting the prospect of a MKvsDC2, Boon took the opportunity to end rumours surrounding an attempt to bring the Mortal Kombat games to the big screen.
Would you like another Mortal Kombat/DC Comics crossover game? Are you disappointed that Mortal Kombat isn't on the way to cinema anytime soon?
