One of the updates that the critically acclaimed Mortal Kombat 11 got, when NetherRealm Studios announced the Mortal Kombat: Aftermath expansion, added the fan-favourite Friendships — which are goofy moves players can pull off at the end of a gory encounter.

Friendships were originally introduced in Mortal Kombat II, all the way back in the early '90s, and the last game that featured them was Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which was released in 1996, so fans of the popular fighting series were more than ecstatic to see this particular move making its long-awaited comeback.

Now that Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate was released last week, players who purchase the definitive edition of Mortal Kombat 11 will have access to every character, including Kombat Pack 2 characters Rain, Mileena, and Rambo; meaning that they now also have access to every single Friendship in the game.

In a recent video shared by the YouTube channel of WIRED, Mortal Kombat Series Co-Creator Ed Boon has gone through every single one of the Friendships in Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate — revealing some very interesting details about them, including how they came up with them, and why it is a requirement to make them look as silly as possible.

What's fascinating about the video is how Boon mentions how dramatic they initially make each Friendship loook right before they go and make them look goofy, which is usually the complete oppostie of what players would expect, as well as the complete opposite each character would do; except for Johnny Cage, of course, he's always in character.
