Player First Games has shared some bittersweet news with MultiVersus fans as the free-to-play brawler. On the upside, the game is exiting its open beta and moving forward with its full release. The good news, however, is offset by the bad, as its open beta exit also means the game will be delisted from digital storefronts until it officially launches in 2024.
Fans have until June 25 to get their last rounds in before the servers close in preparation for its full release. Unfortunately, refunds won't be issued outside of its standard policies. Developer Player First attempted to soften the blow, mentioning that their progress will carry over to the full release. It seems Warner Bros. and Player First are hoping players will be just fine being denied access to the content they paid for until sometime early next year.
While the active player base has drastically decreased, with as few as 717 players on average, it isn't like MultiVersus was some unknown game from the get-go. It toppled over 20 million players and, at a time, had an average of 100,000 concurrent players. Its free-to-play nature likely helped find a player base.
MultiVersus will officially shutter its open beta on June 25 and make it so players can't download the game on April 4. Player First assures fans the game will be back when it fully launches sometime in early 2024.
