Nicalis and Studio Saizen's
Blade Strangers gets an introduction trailer for Emiko from the Umihara Kawase series.
Umihara Kawase is a series of platformer games that initially released on the Super Famicom back in 1994. In
Umihara Kawase you play as a girl named Kawase that uses her fishing line to latch onto nearly all surfaces within the games, making for interesting platforming levels.
The latest game in the series is
Sayonara Umihara Kawase that was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013 in Japan. This would also be the first time a game in the series was localised outside of Japan, making its way into the Nintendo 3DS eShop and the PS Vita in 2015. In the game players are introduced to Emiko, who is a childhood friend of Kawase, and is the character that has just been given an introduction trailer for
Blade Strangers.
In
Blade Strangers, Emiko is accompanied by her giant pet cat, which definitely makes for an interesting character altogether, as well as bringing the wacky feeling to the game. While most of the characters in
Blade Strangers are fairly unknown, they've definitely got interesting origins and the game looks like it has a lot of potential to become a solid fighting game series in the future.
A malevolent force known only as Lina is devouring data from a vast, interdimensional network of servers overseen by sentient computers called ”motes.” In desperation, the motes summon heroes from a variety of parallel game worlds to face off against each other in one-on-one combat. The tournament victor has the potential to be awakened as the Blade Stranger—the savior who can vanquish Lina and protect the motes from further harm!
Blade Strangers hasn't been given an official release date but is expected to come out for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC this Summer.
