Street Fighter is making another foray into a live-action medium and the creative team behind Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist is leading the charge. Film producer Mark Gordon, whose recent credits include War Dogs and Steve Jobs, is joining forces with Assassin's Fists' Joey Ansah, Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding.
Gordon told The Wrap, "Street Fighter is a global tour de force franchise, having garnered immense worldwide commercial success and built a vast devoted fanbase that has only grown through its 30-year legacy. We are thrilled to be teaming up with Joey, Jacqueline and Mark, who are already so deeply connected to this brand, to bring this adored story to television audiences everywhere."
The new TV series will take a World Warrior approach with a focus on Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li. The series will see the four start out on separate journeys before joining forces in M.Bison and Shadaloo's World Warrior Tournament.
Yoshinori Ono, Capcom's executive producer for Street Fighter revealed that the search for a financial and distributor for the project was spearheaded by the Assassin's Fist team.
