Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Black Market is now open for business on PlayStation 4. The "one-stop shop" for all of your
Black Ops 4 gear offers a way for you to customize your online character through cosmetics that you can earn for free by simply playing the game. This includes items like Tags, Gestures, customizable Outfits, Calling Cards, Stickers, Blackout characters, and Signature Weapons.
At the core of the Black Market is the Contraband stream, a path to unlock free content just by playing Blackout and multiplayer. As you play you the various multiplayer modes you will reach new tiers in the Contraband stream which unlock new customization options - similar to
Fortnite's Battle Pass. Contraband items will be delivered through seasonal "Operations," which will restart every couple of months (also like
Fortnite's seasons). Operation First Strike is actually now live today on PlayStation 4.
In addition to the standard Contraband stream,
Black Ops 4 will host "Special", limited-time seasonal events - the first being a Halloween event. Starting October 20 on PlayStation 4, with other platforms to follow seven days later, you can unlock free Halloween-themed gear through the Special Event stream The trailer below highlights some of the spooky cosmetics you can earn this season.
And finally, coming to the Black Market in November is Blackjack's Shop, a place where you can directly purchase certain pieces of gear with "limited availability." Blackjack's Shop will refresh weekly and bring exclusive customization items to
Black Ops 4 that can't be unlocked via the Contraband stream.
The Black Market is now live in
Black Ops 4 on PS4, with Xbox and PC following seven days later thanks to Activision's exclusivity deal with Sony.
