Communications Manager at Infinity Ward Ashton Williams's recent Twitter gifs have led to speculation that this year's
Call of Duty would be in fact a sequel to 2013's
Ghosts, one of the most divisive entries in the best-selling series, as the said gifs featured not only different takes on the Grim Reaper, but also a sinister-looking skull with glowing eyes possibly teasing the return of Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley.
According to Kotaku's Jason Schreier, "
It ain't Ghosts 2!," as he shortly explained yesterday on the ResetEra forum. Considering that Schreier is arguably one of the most reliable and proven reporters working in the industry today (he had leaked truthful information on
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and
Origins long before Ubisoft's announcements of those titles), he knows what he's talking about.
Schreier’s recent reporting that this year's
Call of Duty won't be a
Ghosts 2 basically confirms Charlie INTEL's latest revelations that Infinity Ward is currently developing a
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, that will apparently be featuring a proper single-player campaign alongside a brand new customary COD Multiplayer experience, and the return of the beloved and vastly popular Zombie mode.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is an extraordinary step forward for one of the largest entertainment franchises of all-time. This new chapter in the Call of Duty franchise features a new dynamic where players are on the side of a crippled nation fighting not for freedom, or liberty, but simply to survive. Fueling this all new Call of Duty experience, the franchise's new next-gen engine delivers stunning levels of immersion and performance, all while maintaining the speed and fluidity of 60 frames-per-second across all platforms.
Call of Duty: Ghosts released in 2013 for X360, PS3, PC, and Wii U, and was a PS4 and XO launch title.
