Activision announced today that it will end support for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.
"This decision was made after careful consideration of various factors and while we're proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences," the developer said in a statement.
Although Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will remain playable — at least for now — Activision will no longer deliver new seasonal content and gameplay updates to the mobile version.
The game is also being removed from the Google Play and Apple's App Store. Sunday, May 18, 2025, will be the last day you'll be able to download the game from either mobile storefront. Anyone who has the game downloaded and installed on their mobile device before Monday, May 19, 2025, will continue to be able to play "with continued cross-progression of shared inventories using existing content, and servers with matchmaking for online play."
All in-game microtransactions will be disabled on May 18th, preventing purchases of Call of Duty Points or Black Cell using real currency. Additionally, all social features across both mobile platforms will be shut down.
"We know that this news may be disappointing, and we truly appreciate the support, passion, feedback, and dedication from our community. We have special incentives for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile players in Call of Duty: Mobile and encourage our players to try it for free," the developer concluded.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile was, as the name suggests, a mobile version of Call of Duty's battle royale spin-off. The free-to-play game launched on March 21, 2024, for iOS and Android and got off to an impressive start with over 50 million pre-registrations and $1.4 million in revenue within its first four days.
However, the game struggled to maintain its strong player base among mobile-first users. There have also been reports that Call of Duty: Warzone in general has struggled to maintain its support among players, but only Warzone Mobile is the one to get the axe so far.
For mobile-first gamers still looking for a Call of Duty experience, you can try Call of Duty: Mobile. This is a free-to-play first-person shooter that brings the classic Call of Duty experience to mobile devices, including traditional 5v5 team-based combat in modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search & Destroy, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed.
