In a blog entry posted moments ago,
Bungie has confirmed that all the weapons, armor and miscellaneous gear
Destiny gamers have acquired since the game's launch back in September 2014 won't carry over to
Destiny 2. While video games typically don't allow you to bring gear and stats over from one entry to the next, this development is particularly heartbreaking for Bungie's online first-person-shooter community as one of the main draws of the game was acquiring rare weapons and armor and then lording your shiny Exotic armor or weapons over someone that doesn't have it. In many instances, it took gamers many, sometimes over 100 hours to acquire a particular item. While some welcome the opportunity for a fresh start, many gamers are pointing back to Bungie's initial stance that Destiny would be a 10-year game that would simply be expanded, allowing gamers to grow with their character.
However all isn't lost, you will be able to carry "something" over to
Destiny 2. If your Guardians are over Level 20 and have completed the "Black Garden" story mission, you'll be able to transport that character's class, race, gender, hair, face and markings. You'll also receive a "special badge/honor" noting your achievements from the first game.
Destiny 2, while unconfirmed, is expected to be released late-2017. Following September 16, 2016's
Rise of Iron, the first
Destiny game has one more expansion/event titled
Age of Triumph, which will be revealed in more detail on March 8.
