Last year's launch of
Destiny 2 was more than just controversial, as Bungie's MMOFPS debuted to underwhelming sales despite good critical reception. But the majority of players didn't approve the direction Bungie's decided to take, including the total marginalization of the story mode. Some players also felt that Bungie delivered a watered down, simplified version of that experience, as the community clearly expected to see a more hardcore experience similar to the first
Destiny.
But it looks like Bungie is listening patiently and the upcoming
Forsaken expansion will try to change the old formula and win players' trust once again. For example, the campaing is being co-developed by
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron maker High Moon Studios to deliver a bit more "cinematic" experience.
Forsaken's Game Director And Project Lead Steve Cotton and Scott Taylor had a chance to recently chat with Game Informer and answered 113 burning, and pretty good questions. The answer that probably interests the most of the community is the fact that the campaign is non-linear, but the developer couldn't explain how long it will take to finish it. Expect to hear some
Dragon Ball questions, too.
Forsaken will cost $39.99 on its own and $69.99 in a bundle with the Annual Pass included. Activision will also sell a Digital Deluxe Edition of the expansion for $79.99 that includes Forsaken itself, the Annual Pass and a set of Awoken-themed in-game items such as Wrath Majestic Legendary Bow Ornament, Dirge Paladin Emblem, Vestian Ghost Shell, and Fireteam Medallions. Take a look:
Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness. You and Cayde-6 are sent to personally investigate the recent unrest. Upon arrival, you soon discover the most-wanted criminals in the Prison of Elders have organized an escape. Beyond the Vanguard’s authority, you’ll pursue these fugitives deep into the Reef. Explore new regions, awaken new powers, earn powerful weapons, and uncover long lost Awoken secrets. The hunt is on.
Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion arrives on September 4, 2018 for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
