Revealed during E3 2019,
DOOM Eternal is the follow-up to 2016's
DOOM from id Software and Bethesda Softworks. It's more or less the same demon-slaying experience that the first game was — only the amount of enemies has been increased tenfold. Just earlier this week, we got a look at some hellish concept art for the upcoming game —
which you can check out here.
The first-person shooter was set to release on November 22nd, 2019. However, id Software has now announced that
DOOM Eternal has been delayed by five months. The developer released a statement
via Twitter which explains that the game's launch has been delayed to ensure that they have time to put together the best experience they can.
DOOM Eternal will now release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 20th, 2020 — and for the Nintendo Switch at a later date. Below you can read through an excerpt from the statement which details the delay as well as check out the tweet in question.
Throughout the development of DOOM Eternal, our goal has been to deliver a game that exceeds your greatest expectations across the board. To make sure we’re delivering the best experience -- for DOOM Eternal to live up to our standards of speed and polish -- we’ve made the decision to extend our launch date by a few months to March 20, 2020. We know many fans will be disappointed by this delay, but we are confident that DOOM Eternal will deliver a gaming experience that is worth the wait.
Similarly, id Software revealed that DOOM 64 will no longer release in November but in March of next year as a pre-order bonus for DOOM Eternal — you can find out more on that here.
