Movies which attempt to adapt video games, at this point, are well known to be pretty awful. The 2005 cinematic adaptation of Doom, which starred Dwayne Johnson, Karl Urban and Rosamund Pike, is no exception to the lovingly dubbed "video game curse."

Johnson, the film's lead, has finally admitted to its faults whilst promoting another upcoming video game adaptation: Rampage. Here's what he said to Total Film about Doom:

I lived the video game curse, because I made Doom. And Doom was a movie based off a very popular video game and was incredibly unsuccessful. So I lived the curse, and I experienced it.

So why would he risk starring in another video game movie? Well, Johnson said that he made sure everything was "buttoned up" in terms of script and the monsters in Rampage. Explaining how the financial and critical flop, which bolsters a 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, differs from his upcoming adaptation.

Also making sure that there was a winking charm and humour in Rampage that, for me personally, was not in Doom.

Have you seen the cinematic adaptation of Doom? If so, what did you think of it? Are you going to be checking out Rampage once it releases on April 11th?
