Ubisoft has announced that their
Far Cry 5 is officially the fastest-selling title in the series, generating $310 million in consumer spending through the first week. Impressively, it wasn't the title's only record, as players have steamed more than 55,000 hours of the game, reaching approx. 117 million views on YouTube, possibly earning the title of the most viewed Ubisoft game in history.
According to the latest NPD Group report, the top three best-selling games of 2018 are Far Cry 5, God of War and
Monster Hunter: World. For the past 12 months though, the top three titles remain
Call of Duty WWII, NBA 2k18 and
Destiny 2 (this numbers didn’t include PC digital sales). In other news, May’s bestselling game was
State of Decay 2, with launch sales that nearly doubled that of the first game.
At the top of the PlayStation May chart sits the
God of War reboot, which is followed by David Cage's
Detroit: Become Human and again,
Far Cry 5. Sony was also May’s top performing publisher. Ubisoft still remains the top revenue-generating publisher this year to date, with
Far Cry 5, and the constant support of
Rainbow Six: Siege, Assassin's Creed: Origins, The Division, and many more, as Activision Blizzard is in the lead for top revenues over the 12-month period ending in May.
