Noah Hawley Details How He’ll Juggle Alien: Earth Season 2 And A New Far Cry TV Series

FX has decided that they're all in on Noah Hawley.

After finding massive success with Fargo and the X-Men TV series Legion, Hawley is now preparing to start filming season 2 of the well-received Alien: Earth. And in addition to that series, Hawley will simultaneously begin prep work on an adaptation of the Ubisoft video game, Far Cry.

Speaking to Deadline, Hawley admitted that since he'll be the overall creative lead on two, currently-airing shows, this time around, he won't direct any episodes of Alien: Earth and he'll only direct the first two episodes of Far Cry.

Said Hawley, "There will be a moment where I am running two shows at the same time, so you make choices. I’ve built them both out of London at Pinewood and there is a secondary location that will serve both shows. I’ve tried to be smart about it. We have most of Alien written and we’re halfway through the other show. Once we have the scripts, it’s less my job and more someone else’s."

Zeroing in on Far Cry, he elaborated, "One thing that really attracted me to the Far Cry franchise is that it is an anthology and every time they release a new game it is a totally different story. That’s how I approach Fargo, and it was an exciting idea that we could build an anthology game adaptation where each season is a different story about civilized people thrown into situations where they have to become increasingly uncivilized."

And it sounds as if Hawley is not looking to do a one-for-one adaptation of any particular entry in the Far Cry series. Confirming as much, he explained, "When you play a video game, you only really move forward through the gameplay section, and then you have these cut scenes that you can skip, so when you go to adapt those games you have to be aware that makes the human drama kind of irrelevant to the storyline. That is death for a show."

The Far Cry TV series was officially ordered by FX back in November 2025.  Rob Mac (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) is producing alondside Hawley and will also star in the series.

"Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized," said Mac via press release. "Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support."
