Ubisoft announced on Wednesday that
Far Cry 5 is the fastest selling title in the series, generating $310 million in consumer spending through the first week. It wasn't the title's only record, as the
Far Cry 5 players have steamed more than 55,000 hours of the game, reaching approx. 117 million views, ranking as the company’s second-highest debut of all time only behind
Tom Clancy's The Division.
According to Jefferies Group, an American multinational investment bank and financial services company, the game sold almost 5 million units during its launch week. In comparison,
Far Cry 4 moved more than 8 million copies during its first year on the market.
After this announcement, Ubisoft stock traded up almost 8% yesterday, allowing the publisher to reach an all-time high (to buy a single share you would have to pay €73,86). With the addition of the arcade mode, supporting
Far Cry 5 with new DLC and daily missions, the franchise's future looks brighter than ever and the French company has many reason to celebrate after securing its independence.
