Fortnite Battle Royale is making the jump to Nintendo Switch. Get your parachutes ready because the eagerly-awaited battle royale game will be available to download for free today, starting at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET.
Fortnite Battle Royale was officially revealed for the Switch during Nintendo's E3 2018 presentation. Check out the trailer below for a look at the on-the-go action that awaits.
The action never stops with Fortnite on Nintendo Switch, where players can build and battle together anytime, anywhere. Team up online with friends in the same room or around the world. Weekly updates and new gameplay modes will keep the action fresh for seasoned Fortnite players and newcomers alike.
Of course, the Nintendo Switch isn't the only mobile platform that
Fortnite Battle Royale is available on. In April, Epic Games brought it to iOS and has plans to eventually launch it on Android. It's also available on Xbox and PlayStation. The trailer makes no mention of cross-platform play between all of the different consoles, although
Polygon notes that Switch players will be able to go up against those on PC, Mac, Xbox One and mobile. Sadly, that means PlayStation 4 players are once again left on their own lonely island. Polygon also claims that you can connect any standard 3.5 mm headset to the Switch for voice chat, a first for the system.
Fortnite Battle Royale will, of course, be free to play, although you can bet Epic will try and get you to purchase the Battle Pass or individual cosmetics. It doesn't look like
Fortnite's Save the World PvE mode will be making the jump to Switch.
