Fortnite will be getting a new revamped version of their competitive mode—
Solo Showdown—with the brand new version called
Blitz Showdown.
As reported by
Polygon, this new Showdown's limited-time mode will keep some of the rules found in
Blitz mode. This will help players to get materials faster than in standard mode, while also giving players more loot and weapons. Another interesting details is that players will now be able to see the specific point where they will be starting the matches.
Blitz Showdown also addresses and fixes the scoring problem found in
Solo Showdown that pretty much forced players to win over an 80% of the 50 matches they were taking part in, which was as outrageous as it sounds. But the most important thing that the new
Blitz Showdown mode is adding is that the time of completion has been completely reduced in comparison to Solo Showdown. This is due to players only having to play 25 matches to get their rank instead of the overwhelming 50 matches in the previous competitive mode.
Another improvement is that players will now be divided by server region in Blitz Showdown, where the top 100 of finishing players in each region being granted a V-Buck as the prize. One last thing that was also changed is the scoring system which now grants 100 points to the winner of the match, second place gets 94 points, and third place gets 91 with each and every kill also granting the player three points, thus encouraging players to be more aggressive.
