Epic Games has revealed the official trailer for the upcoming Fortnite x South Park collaboration. The highly anticipated event, which is scheduled to go live on Thursday, will bring all of the hijinks and chaos from the animated series into the frantic battle royale. And to help set the mood, South Park have actually created a short three-minute trailer.
The video begins with Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny all playing Fortnite with Butters patiently waiting in a lobby -- a five-person squad lobby, mind you. The next morning, while discussing their epic gaming night on the bus, Butters appears as his alter ego Professor Chaos and stops the bus.
Upset he was ignored, Butters whips out the Stick of Truth in hopes of forcing his classmates to play Fortnite with him. While waving it around, he accidentally activates his powers, transporting the bus and his classmates to the battle royale island.
Epic still has not revealed all of the details surrounding the South Park event, but the trailer does confirm some previous rumors. Cartman, Kenny, Stan, and Kyle will have Outfits available through the item shop and will be battling in mech suits referenced from the show. Cartman's mech suit, for example, is inspired by AWESOM-O, while Stan's suit has the words "Cyborg Bill" written on the front.
Butters will appear as Professor Chaos and while it was thought that he would be an in-game boss, it looks like he'll instead be playable as well. While the four main boys will be available for purchase through the shop, it sounds like you may be able to unlock Professor Chaos through completing the free "Born in Chaos" Pass.
The trailer also confirms Towelie as a Sidekick, joining the likes of SpongeBob SquarePants and Itchy from The Simpsons. We're not getting a full map redesign, but some areas will be inspired by the show, such as Cartmanland. We can also expect some South Park-themed weapons and items, such as the actual Stick of Truth, although we're not quite sure what it's powers will be yet.
Epic has also confirmed the new Quints 5-person playlist.
Anything is possible with the power of imagination! South Park has arrived in Fortnite. Channel Cartman, Kenny, Stan, Kyle, and Butters with their Outfits in the Shop and get rewarded with items from the free Born in Chaos Pass! Don’t forget to explore Cartmanland and jump into the new Quints 5-person playlist. Live Friday until February 5.
