Fortnite's in-game message feed has revealed a new item coming soon to Battle Royale - the Rift-to-Go.
The newly confirmed item was previously teased by Epic Games community coordinator Sean Hamilton when
he wrote on Reddit,
"Are you a player on the go? Carry an escape plan in your back pocket with a new item making its way to Battle Royale!"
The name of the item and its official description pretty much confirms what many players predicted; it's a portable rift that you can carry with you and use in time of need, much like the Port-A-Fort. Whereas the Port-A-Fort can instantly build an entire base for you, the Rift-To-Go allows you to summon a rift which you can then jump through and teleport you above your current location. You will then be able to glide down to a different location, providing a wonderful way to escape danger.
The official Rift-To-Go teaser reads:
"A rift you carry in your pocket! Teleport above your current location and glide down."
What's unclear is if this rift you summon is unique to you or if other squad members (or even enemies) are able to jump through it as well. Typically, once you use a rift it stays active for a few more seconds allowing others to follow you through. We'll have to wait and see it in action to find out.
Thankfully, we won't have to wait long. The Rift-To-Go will likely arrive on Thursday with update v5.30. Epic
has also announced that the Week 7 Challenges will become available a day later than usual on Friday, August 24.
