With Season 5 of Fortnite's battle royale mode winding down next week, Epic Games has finally announced when Season 6 will begin. In a post on Twitter, the developer announced the new season will begin on Thursday, September 27. Season 5 is still scheduled to end on Monday, September 24. That means there will be a slight break in between seasons.
As one last hurrah for Season 5, Epic is granting a 400% Match XP boost this weekend. The boost will run through the end of the weekend and end at 8:00 a.m. ET. The extra XP won't actually help you unlock Battle Pass rewards as that is done through completing challenges and leveling up Battle Pass tiers. However, the extra XP will help you unlock the additional cosmetic options for certain Season 5 outfits, like Drift and Ragnarok. It should be noted that with Season 5, progressive challenges are no longer restricted to a single season, meaning you can unlock these additional options beyond this season.
As for the new season, Epic has not yet revealed the Battle Pass rewards for Season 6. That'll likely be revealed on the day the new season kicks off. We have, however, already seen one of the big map changes. This week, the giant purple cube fell into Loot Lake, turning it into one giant purple bounce pad. We can probably expect additional changes as well, but those are being kept under wraps for now.
