With about a month still to go in Fortnite's current season, Epic Games has rolled out a new mini-event based on Disney's hit franchise Pirates of the Caribbean. The new event is already live in the game and scheduled to run until August 6, 2024 at 4:00 a.m. ET.
As with most special events in Fortnite, the latest introduces new quests, cosmetics, and shop items inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Over the next couple of weeks, Fortnite will introduce Cursed Sails Quests. These quests are split into eight phases known as "Pirate Codes" and can be completed to unlock in-game rewards from the Cursed Sails Pass. Completing four Quests in each Code will grant you a Map Piece, and collecting all eight Map Pieces will unlock the Jack's Ship Glider.
Completing Cursed Sails Quests will also reward you with Cursed Gold (effectively XP) that can be used to unlock cosmetics from the new Cursed Sails Pass. The mini battle pass has both a Free and Premium Reward Track.
The Free Reward Track will unlock things like the Skulls and Cross Swords Back Bling, Jack’s Cutlass and Bane Pickaxe, and more. There are a total of 11 unlock rewards in the free track.
Meanwhile, the Premium Reward Track, available for 1,000 V-Bucks, will automatically unlock the Jack Sparrow Outfit and other rewards, including the Jar of Dirt Emote and the Cursed Jack Sparrow Outfit.
Captain Jack Sparrow isn't the only pirate arriving in the battle royale game. Available through the in-game shop are the Elizabeth Swann, Captain Barbossa, and Davy Jones Outfits. These are also available as "Packs" which contain additional cosmetics for each character, such as the Dead Man's Chest Back Bling and Elizabeth's Favor Pickaxe in The Elizabeth Swann Pack.
For the ultimate collectors out there, you can get all three packs plus the Davy's Pipe Organ Emote in the Pirates of the Caribbean Bundle. The Packs and Bundle will be available in the Fortnite shop until August 6th at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Epic Games is no stranger to collaborating with Disney for special events within the Fortnite game. The battle royale game has featured characters and events inspired by Marvel and Star Wars in the past, and recently the two companies announced a massive partnership deal that will see them collaborate on all-new games and entertainment universe.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 kicked off in May 2024 with a theme centered around the post-apocalyptic wasteland. The latest season, inspired heavily by franchises like Mad Max and Fallout, put a heavy emphasis on car-based combatant customizable vehicles. The season is scheduled to end on August 16th.
