Another horror icon is heading into Fortnite. Epic Games has confirmed that Nikki Freeman, the character from Curry Barker's breakout horror film Obsession, is joining the battle royale as part of this year's Fortnitemares celebration. The skin arrives in the Item Shop today (October 21st).
The reveal went up on the official Fortnite X account yesterday (October 20th), and it featured a familiar face. Inde Navarrette, who plays Nikki in the film, appears in the video holding the film's cursed One Wish Willow before making a wish of her own.
In the clip, Navarrette holds up the One Wish Willow and wishes for Nikki Freeman to be in Fortnite, before the screen glitches out. It is a fun nod to the film's central premise, where breaking the toy grants the user exactly one wish, with some very unpleasant consequences.
Epic Teased The Collab A Day Earlier
Fans got a hint that something was coming on Sunday (October 19th), when the official Fortnite account posted a short teaser with the caption "Found the One Wish Willow. Oct. 21." Anyone who had seen Obsession knew exactly what that meant, and the follow-up post confirmed it the next day.
New collab cosmetics typically go live with the daily Item Shop reset, which happens at 8:00 PM ET (5:00 PM PT) in North America, or midnight UTC. That means players in Europe and Asia will be able to grab Nikki early on October 22nd. Epic has not announced pricing yet.
What Is In The Obsession Set
Epic's official posts have only shown the Nikki outfit so far, but dataminers have found the full Obsession set in the game's files following the latest update. According to those files, the set includes four items:
- Nikki (Epic Outfit), with the description "Be Careful What You Wish For" and an optional Splatter style
- One Wish Willow (Back Bling), described as "You only get one wish."
- Nikki's Broken Bottle (Pickaxe), described as "Don't make her use it."
- No No No... (Emote), described as "Don't do that!"
The emote reportedly has Nikki holding up a hand-lettered "Don't do THAT!" sign, and dataminers say it plays a special version when used while wearing the Nikki outfit. The One Wish Willow back bling is also said to play the film's sound effect whenever the player gets an elimination. Bear, the film's lead played by Michael Johnston, does not appear to be part of the set.
One Of The Biggest Horror Movies Ever
It is no surprise that Epic wanted Obsession in Fortnite. The film, written and directed by YouTube creator Curry Barker, became one of the biggest stories in Hollywood this year. It reportedly cost around $750,000 to make, was picked up by Focus Features out of the Toronto International Film Festival, and went on to gross over $520 million worldwide after opening in US theaters in May. It is now the highest-grossing film in Focus Features history.
The story follows Bear, a shy music store employee who breaks a One Wish Willow in hopes of winning over his friend and co-worker Nikki. The wish works, but Nikki's sudden devotion quickly turns dangerous. Navarrette's performance as Nikki has been a big part of the film's success, and the character has become one of the most recognizable horror figures of the year.
Not Every Fan Is On Board
The announcement has sparked some debate among horror fans. Some players have questioned whether Nikki is the right character to turn into a purchasable skin, given the film's dark themes around possession and consent, with a vocal group even calling for a boycott. Others have pointed out that Fortnite has added plenty of disturbing horror characters over the years, and are simply excited to see one of 2026's biggest horror films get represented in the game, especially with Navarrette personally involved in the reveal.
Nikki joins a busy Fortnitemares lineup this year, which has already brought in Charlie, Alastor, and Vaggie from Hazbin Hotel.
Are you planning to pick up the Nikki skin when it hits the Item Shop, or do you think Obsession was the wrong fit for Fortnite?
