FORTNITE Patch V9.30 Adds Chug Splash And Nerfs The Combat Shotgun

Fortnite update v9.30 dropped today introducing new content to the popular battle royale game.

The highlight of today's update is Chug Splash, a new thrown item that splashes liquid in a small area, restoring 20 Health/Shield to nearby teammates and enemies. It can also extend the duration of the "knocked" state for players who have been knocked in combat. The Chug Splash will first grant health unless it's full, in which case it will grant shield.

Update v9.30 also makes some pretty big changes to shotguns. For starters, the shotgun swap delay has been removed. The cooldown will now only apply when the player is carrying multiple shotguns. Epic Games explained:

This is a Quality of Life change to prevent the swap delay system from interfering with players who do not have multiple shotguns in their inventory. As with all changes, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this and make adjustments if necessary.

Additionally, the long-range effectiveness of the Combat Shotgun has also been reduced, a much-needed nerf. Damage at medium distances (2.44 tiles to 4.88 tiles) has been reduced by 10 percent, while damage at long distances (4.88 tiles to 9.76 tiles) has been reduced by 20 percent.

The Combat Shotgun’s accuracy uniquely enables players to hit shots from longer distances compared to other shotguns. However, the damage at those longer ranges was a little higher than desired.

With the update, we also say goodbye to the Boom Bow, Dual Pistols, and Dynamite as they have all been sent to the Vault.

These Vaults are primarily targeted at adjusting the availability of explosives, putting them more in line with where we think they should be.

Some other less exciting changes include: removing the ability to ride Proximity Grenade Launcher projectiles, a short damage delay for the Storm Flip to better mimic the normal Storm behavior, and more. The full list of bug fixes and other adjustments in patch v9.30 can be found over on the Epic website.

Lastly, now available in the game is the new mode, Prop Hunt. A reimagined classic community mod, this is hide-and-seek "With a twist."

Hiders can turn themselves into almost any decorative object (prop) on the map. Their objective, to evade the Hunters and survive until time runs out. The Hunters are tasked with finding and eliminating all of the Hiders within the time limit.

Created by StrayKite, Prop Hunt is the new Featured Island, playable with up to 15 friends. You can find it using Creative code: 6069-9263-9110.
