Part 1 of Fortnite's Marvel-themed event leading up to Chapter 2 - Season 4 has officially begun. As of today, fans can experience "the prelude to War" in the form of an in-game comic book story featuring Thor and Galactus.
Heading into the Battle Pass screen, fans can read the beginning of an in-game comic that shows how Thor and Galactus have made their way into Fortnite. While collaborative events featuring Marvel characters are nothing new for Fortnite, this seems to be something on a much larger scale -- a full-blown season with Marvel tie-ins and cosmetics. Even Donald Mustard, Worldwide Creative Director at Epic Games, hyped the story.
This is all building up to the launch of Chapter 2 - Season 4 on August 27. Beyond the story, it appears the upcoming season will have a hefty dose of Marvel-inspired content. Leaks from prominant data miner Hypex have suggested everything from Thor and his hammer to scattered comic book pages to outfits for Wolverine, Storm and Groot.
This certainly isn't the first Fortnite and Marvel collaboration as the battle royale game has hosted events for both Avengers movies and has featured numerous Marvel superhero skins, including Black Widow, Star-Lord, Deadpool, and Captain America. However, this Marvel-inspired storyline does appear to be the biggest collaborative event we've seen in the battle royale game thus far.
