Marvel Comics has shared a first look inside Fortnite x Marvel: Zero War #1, revealing the precise moment the Fortnight and Marvel Universes collide...with Spider-Man caught right in the middle!
The limited series will see writer Christos Gage (Spider-Geddon) team up with Epic Games' Chief Creative Officer, Donald Mustard, and artist Sergio Davíla (Captain Marvel) for an in-continuity saga packed with enormous ramifications for both universes (what those will be remain to be seen).
The comic's story follows the inhabitants on the Island who are locked in what seems to be a never-ending war, and only one thing has the potential to turn the tide: a crystallized fragment of the Zero Point that was cast into the Marvel Universe. For the first time, fans will witness iconic Fortnite characters adventure alongside heroes such as Captain Marvel, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Shuri.
"There’ll be a few things you see in both the game and the comic—mostly in our final issue," Gage tells IGN. "But for the most part, what happens in the game and what happens in the comic are different fronts in the same war. Some questions that players might have about the game are answered in the comic, and vice versa, though neither are required to follow the story in the other."
It sounds like this comic book will probably only appeal to Fortnite fans, but those who do play the game and love the Marvel Universe will no doubt find all they want and more from this one.
