[UPDATE] Following the leak, Epic has officially announced Fortnite Creative, which will be introduced with Season 7 on Thursday.

It’s a brand new way to experience the world of Fortnite, available on December 6. Design games, race around the island, battle your friends in new ways and build your dream Fortnite. It’s all happening on your own private island where everything you make is saved.

Battle Pass owners will have access to a private island for the first week of Season 7. During this early access week Battle Pass owners can invite their friends to play on their island. Starting December 13, all players will have access to a private island for free. Watch the video below for all the details.

Fortnite's new Creative mode joins the popular Battle Royale and Save the World modes, giving players three distinct options to play. Like those other two modes, Epic will continue to expand upon Fortnite Creative and add new features and improvements in future updates.

[ORIGINAL] Fortnite developer Epic Games has a big announcement to make at The Game Awards 2018 on Thursday, but it seems the "world premiere" reveal has been spoiled a little early. Just one day before the big event, a video has found its way online that prematurely revealed the game's new creative sandbox mode.
Details were shared in a video uploaded by YouTuber Lachlan, which has since been removed. The new Creative mode gives players four separate islands where they can build their own mini-games or points of interest which, in turn, can be accessed by the community. As detailed in the video, starting Creative mode will drop you into an island lobby that is filled with rifts that lead to other player-created maps. Or you can select one of your own islands.

Once you land on your island, you can walk around or enter fly mode. You're also equipped with a phone that can be used to help build your map and place items, scenes, floors, walls, entire buildings, etc. While you are free to create your own structures from scratch, there's also an entire library of prefab creations. These include premade buildings found in either the main game or in the Creative mode itself. If you're not the creative type or just don't feel like building every single structure, you can find premade structures from Tilted Towers, Lucky Landing, etc. as well as other premade devices, weapons, consumables, and chests. There is a memory allotment each island is given, limiting how many total items you can place down. Once you're finished building, you can set rulesets for the map and invite friends or share it with others.

Again, all of this information was found in a prematurely uploaded video, which you can watch here. Alternatively, you can wait for The Game Wards 2018 for the official unveiling from Epic Games on Thursday night. The Game Awards 2018 will be held on December 6, starting at 8:30 p.m. ET.
