New Trailers Land For Boltgun II And Age Of Sigmar: Deathmaster At Gamescom

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II launches in October on PC, PS5, and Xbox, with Switch 2 later. New trailers also name Vashtorr as the villain and show first gameplay for Deathmaster.

Games Workshop used the Future Games Show at Gamescom to put dates and faces on two Warhammer games that had been living on wishlist pages. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II now has a launch day. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster finally has a gameplay trailer.

Boltgun II arrives October 14, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 follows "shortly after." Auroch Digital is back in the chair. Big Fan Games is publishing this one. The first Boltgun shipped in May 2023 under Focus Entertainment and turned the 41st millennium into a loud, chunky throwback shooter. This sequel is the same idea with a second playable character, a named daemon at the end, and a guest composer people will click for even if they have never painted an Ultramarine. Check out the release date trailer below:

You still play Malum Caedo, the Ultramarines Sternguard who carved through Graia in the first game. You can also play Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath, voiced by Alanah Pearce. The pair travel to an isolated star system on reports of rising Chaos activity and run into Vashtorr the Arkifane, the Master of the Soul Forges. Official copy says Vashtorr throws a vast daemonic machine at an Imperial fleet sent to investigate, then Caedo and Veyrath bounce from planet to planet trying to stop the rest of the plan.

That is a bigger map than the first game’s forge-world hallways. Preview coverage from earlier this year already described outdoor stretches and longer sightlines instead of one facility you backtrack through. The new trailer is there to sell the villain and the guns, not a campaign structure. Expect Nurglings, cultists, and new enemy types in the same strafing loop that made the original work.

The music hook is none other than the legendary Mick Gordon. Warhammer Community says Vashtorr gets a personal track, Ascent of the Arkifane. Other write-ups describe it as a cameo for the final fight, not a full Gordon score replacing the rest of the soundtrack. That is still the sentence that travels. Gordon’s DOOM and Wolfenstein work is the sound a lot of people hear when they hear "boomer shooter." Putting it on a Chaos demigod is cheap marketing and also pretty good marketing.

A free demo is already out if you want to try both characters before October.

Deathmaster is the other trailer that was revealed, and it is a different game. This one is Age of Sigmar, not 40K. You are a Skaven of Clans Eshin crawling out of the Gnaw, stabbing your way up a ladder where only one in a million rats earns the Great Horned Rat’s favor. The first gameplay trailer shows the pitch: use shadows, cut down other Skaven, pick up new abilities and gear, keep climbing toward the Deathmaster rank in a society that will murder you for the promotion. Check out the gameplay trailer below:

No exact day. Launch is 2027. Platforms listed so far are PC, with consoles mentioned without a store list. That is thinner than the Boltgun II package, which is fine. One game is six weeks out. The other is a first look at a stealth-rat power fantasy Games Workshop has wanted on a screen for years.

Warhammer video games have a habit of arriving in clumps. Space Marine 2 already did the big-budget 40K shooter. Boltgun was the pixel-blood alternative that actually felt like old DOOM wearing an Aquila. Deathmaster is the tabletop-adjacent experiment: Skaven politics as an action game instead of another Space Marine power fantasy. If both land, the next year of Warhammer on consoles is a sequel you can explain in one sentence and a rat assassin fantasy you have to explain in three.

Vashtorr is a real 40K name with a machine-god flavor that fits a shooter better than another generic Chaos Lord. Two player characters is the actual design change. If Veyrath is just Caedo with a different shout and a flamer, the sequel is a skin pack with a better final song. If her kit changes how you clear a room, Boltgun II earns the date. I am more curious about Deathmaster as a long-term Warhammer game and less convinced it will be ready to talk about until a 2027 window exists and is more solidified. Skaven games live or die on whether the humor and the backstabbing survive contact with a camera. A trailer can fake that. A year of development cannot fake that.

Boltgun II is the one to wishlist this weekend. Deathmaster is the one to remember when the next Warhammer showcase needs a second trailer. Are you going back in as Caedo, or starting Boltgun II as the Battle Sister? Let us know in the comments. As always, stay tuned to Gamefragger.com for more news, updates and guides as they arrive.
