Sony finally put an end to the rumors, officially announcing today that
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be coming to PlayStation 4 next month. Because
PUBG is arriving on PlayStation so far after its Xbox and PC counterparts, many of the game's major features will already be included, such as custom matches, ranked system, event mode, Trophies and more.
"Bringing PUBG to the PS4 has been an ambitious project for us, and we are beyond thrilled to finally be sharing this news with the world," said development project manager Joon H. Choi.
PUBG is a battle-royale shooter where 100 players drop into a map and fight for survival. It’s a game of life or death as you explore and loot the map for weapons and armor. Internet and PlayStation Plus are required to play on PS4. Be the last one standing to achieve the elusive Chicken Dinner – bragging rights included.
The battle royale shooter, which pits 100 players against each other in a fight for survival, will launch with three maps - Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok. The highly anticipated snow-themed map will arrive this winter.
PUBG will be available for $30 either physically (Disc Edition) or digitally (Looter's Digital Edition). There's a $50 Survivor's Digital Edition that includes the game, the Vikendi Event Pass, 2,300 G-Coin Pack, and 20,000 BP. Lastly,t here's the $60 Champion's Digital Edition which bumps it up to 6,000 G-Coin Pack along with the rest of the Survivor's Digital incentives.
Sony is celebrating by offering those who pre-order exclusive skins inspired by two of PlayStation's biggest franchises. Each of the pre-order bundles will include a Nathan Drake Desert Outfit (Uncharted) and Ellie's Backpack (The Last of Us). You can also snag a
PUBG avatar to use as your PSN User ID.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will release for PlayStation 4 on December 7.
