RAGE 2 is the gaudy baby of an unexpected cooperation between Avalanche Studios (
Mad Max, Just Cause) and id Software (
DOOM, Quake), the creators of the original
RAGE that's mostly remember for its (not really) groundbreaking use of the MegaTexture tech that was supposed to revolutionize the way studios design video games covering the entire polygon map by painting a single massive texture.
According to the developers, the sandbox extravaganza won't be trying to experiment with the already established (and working well) technology, and will focus on delivering a mesmerizing gameplay experience instead. In the recent "
122 Rapid-Fire Questions About" interview with id Software Studio Director Tim Willits, Game Informer had a chance to ask him about their basic idea for
RAGE 2.
In Willits' opinion, Avalanche Studios is like their twin brother and everything goes according to the plan so far.
RAGE 2 won't feature loot boxes, but you should expect some microtransactions and post-launch support, that will involve free and paid content. You can learn a lot more about
RAGE 2 by watching the interview below, which also gives you the answer if Willits prefers crunchy or creamy:
n the year 2185, humanity’s numbers are dwindling. Ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs roam the open roads and the tyrannical Authority seek to rule who remains with an iron fist. You are Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland. Robbed of your home and left for dead, you’ll tear across an unforgiving wasteland battling bloodthirsty gangs to find the tools and tech needed to take the fight to The Authority and crush their oppressive rule once and for all!
RAGE 2 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 14, 2019.
